what is the world of darkness?
The world of darkness is not our own, though it is close enough for fearsome discomfort. Rather, the world inhabited by vampires and other supernatural creatures is like ours, but through a looking glass darkly. Evil is palpable and ubiquitous in this world; the final nights are upon us, and the whole planet teeters on a razor's edge of tension. It is a world of darkness. Superficially, the World of Darkness is like the "real" world we all inhabit. The same bands are popular, violence still plagues the inner city, graft and corruption infest the same governments, and society still looks to the same cities for its culture. The World of Darkness has a Statue of Liberty, an Eiffel Tower and a CBGB's. More present than in our world, though, is the undercurrent of horror - our world's ills are all the more pronounced in the World of Darkness. Our fears are more real. Our governments are more degenerate. Our ecosystem dies a bit more each night.
And vampires exist. As do werewolves, wraiths and many other creatures you believed were only myth.
do i need to know about WOD before I can play?
Not at all. We've included enough vital information on the site to help those who've never played in this setting before. All we ask if that if you're confused about something and are unsure of how to go about bringing your character to unlife, that you ask somebody for help. That's what we're here for.
what all can I play?
we're set in the world of darkness for a reason. you're welcome to take on what you think you can handle. kindred, garou, wraiths, hunters. if you're new to the game style we advise that you perhaps do some research before taking on a mage character.
you mentioned Double Vision is based off a pen and paper game.
how does that effect fourm playing?
Obviously some rules from the pen and paper days aren't going to be in effect. For example while dice might have been used to determine the outcome of a fight between two kindred, that styling won't work here. therefore all fight sequences are based on a give and take sort of development. If you throw a punch, you should therefore take a punch. After all no one is invincible. However most of the rules and designing for the world are still very much in play.
do I have to start off with a normal human?
Again not at all. Everyone has the option of starting off with any group they want for their first character.
what's this about using an OOC account?
So we decided last game for everyone to have a main member account. That's what you should register first when you join us here at Double Vision. Once that's done you can then go ahead and register your character accounts and then link them to the main parent occ account.
