    the wyrm
    updated as of janurary, 2015

In the theology of the Garou the Wyrm is one of the higher Celestines. The Wyrm's purpose is the cleansing and rectification of Creation, furthering its descent into Entropy. He achieves this by eliminating that which the Wyld creates and the Weaver structures.

According to Garou theology, the Wyrm was the second member of the Triat to go insane. Once the Weaver went mad and began encasing everything in Webs, the Wyrm was progressively constrained until he was driven insane, hellbent on destroying everything. Consequently, the Wyrm is now a spirit of destruction, chaos, darkness and corruption, the essence of everything the Garou oppose.

The Wyrm counts many different creatures in its employ. Some serve knowingly, some unknowingly. But their actions all serve to bring the Apocalypse ever closer and drive the Garou ever closer to extinction. As such, all creatures who cause misery, depravity and destruction, either willingly or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly, are servants of the Wyrm and are considered deserving of death and damnation by the Gorou.

Banes: These foul spirits of the Wyrm are thankfully usually confined to the spirit world. Unfortunately, some of the strongest can possess mortal hosts and use them to affect the real world. Even strong men can be overwhelmed and made the puppet of a Bane. No man or beast is safe from these spirits of pure evil and corruption. When confronted however, Banes will frequently give up their mortal shells and burst forth in the full horrifying glory, displaying razor sharp fangs, tentacles, hundred of faceted eyes, or a thousand other horrors, each worse than the last.

Black Spiral Dancers: The Wyrm's greatest triumph, the Dancers are foul twisted reflections of the Garou. Just like the Garou, they consort with spirits and can gain gifts from them, except they gain their gifts from Banes. Everything the Garou do, they do in service to the Wyrm. They are fond of capturing normal Garou and torturing them until they too become Black Spiral Dancers.

Fomori are created by binding a bane into a mortal host, either a human or animal. However, these are less powerful spirits than most Banes, so are more firmly bound to the flesh of their hosts, producing much more obvious deformities. Fomori are usually created by Pentex.

Pentex is a shadow corporation with its fingers is every pie it can think of. It taints everything it touches, all beneath a veneer of 'business as usual'. Oil spills are just a 'part of business' not part of a master plan to corrupt the world. Violent video games and movies are there just to satisfy the demands of customers, not to corrupt the hearts and minds of the young. Pharamceuticals with soul crushing side effects are hailed as miracle cures. Pentex has one purpose: bring on the Apocalypse and then step in as the savior, to be church and corporation all in one.

The 7th Generation: Perhaps the worst of all the factions of the Wyrm, the 7th Generation was a cult of knowing human servants of the Wyrm. They defiled children and sacrificed them to dark gods to achieve power for themselves. Their organization has been broken however, and there are only a few scattered survivors now. The Garou, led by King Albrecht, worked together for once to eliminate this vile cult... but if they are not wary, it may reform soon enough.

Vampires: The descendants of Caine are creatures of the Wyrm in that they are creatures of darkness cursed by God to feed on the blood of humans. Regardless of a vampire's Path of Enlightenment, the Garou will sense the taint of the Wyrm within any vampire they encounter.

Demons: The Fallen are creatures of the Wyrm in that they are creatures condemned by God who now hail from the Abyss.

    the weaver
    updated as of janurary, 2015

The Weaver is one of the three great Celestine spirits of the Triat. Its function was thought to be to make Order from the creations of the Wyld, giving them form and function for the duration of their existence before they were destroyed by the Wyrm, maintaining a balance between creation and destruction.

Many Garou believe that the Weaver is primarily to blame for the imbalance in the Triat; their mythology states that the Weaver grew tired of its order being destroyed by the Wyrm, and spun its webs to imprison the Wyrm and end its destruction. This imprisonment drove the Wyrm mad and caused it to begin destroying everything rather than just those things whose time had ended.

The Weaver's avatars and children often take the form of spiders, or sometimes insects. It (or, more often, she) is a patron of law, order, science and technology, and as such is revered by some semi-heretical Glass Walkers, Ratkin and Ananasi (who refer to her as Grandmother Spider; they believe the Weaver created their patron spirit, Queen Ananasa). Most realize, however, that the Weaver is far too powerful in the modern world, where cities and steel are more important and influential than nature.

Mankind is Weaver's adopted child, in order to bring order to the world and help her to end the chaos that her Celestine brethren constantly wrought upon creation. To this end, Weaver implanted mortals with three gifts, Dogma, Science, and Technology, in order to survive. It has been said, that after the Impergium, Weaver vowed to never let her children become victims of persecution again. Some of the Awakened (mages) of the Technocracy may also revere her in one guise or another, often naming her as Stasis; certainly the Weaver's supposed goal of unending perfection mirrors the Technocratic goal of a static reality.

The Weaver has three Incarna: The Machine (the manifestation of her gift of Technology), the Patriarch (the manifestation of Dogma) and Science (the manifestation of Science, of course).

    the wyld
    updated as of janurary, 2015

The Wyld is one of the three spirits of the Triat. The Wyld is a generative force: it creates absolute Chaos, which is given order by the Weaver before it is destroyed and returned to chaos by the Wyrm. Where the other two of the Triat went insane, the Wyld is diminishing, being squashed out by the Weaver, and destroyed recklessly by the Wyrm. Black Furies and Red Talons are the two foremost Garou tribes who celebrate the Wyld. Contrary to them, the Ratkin worship the Wyld as the supreme energy, well over Gaia. .

    gaia
    updated as of janurary, 2015

Gaia is the spiritual representation of the Earth, the mother of all living things. More directly, she is credited with creating the Garou and most of the Fera to be her warriors, servants and agents in both the material and spirit worlds.

Gaia is a Celestine, and one of the most powerful spirits known to exist - possibly the most powerful. Opinions differ over her exact relationship to the Triat (some say she created them, others the opposite), but she clearly has ties to Helios and Luna. While mages generally see her as a spiritual representation of the planet Earth, Garou and others often think of her as the entire cosmos, with the planet just her most important and vital aspect.

As is the case with other spirits of God-like power, Gaia is almost never encountered directly; instead she communicates with her children and other supplicants via minor spirits under her command.

Gaia has many aspects and is known by a variety of names; these include the Emerald Mother, the guise in which she is known to the shen of the Middle Kingdom.

Gaia cannot be contacted directly, and resides within the Summer Country, blissfully dreaming of life. During one of the Apocalypse scenarios, servants of the Wyrm known as the Midnight Shadows search for her, and the player's pack can follow them to save Gaia. If they save her, the pack has the option of finding her a new hiding place, or bringing her to battle so that Garou can defend her. In another scenario, her heart will be cut out if a tribe of Garou fall to the Wyrm and succeed in their plans.
